Blogmas #2: Year-ender Getaway Idea
Looking for year-ender getaway? Or perhaps ticking off major bucket list travel destination?
This is not new to a local obviously. But for first-timers like I am,
I thought I should at least give it a mention.
I went on a spontaneous trip just right before my birthday. My agenda on that day was to visit - at least - one place that I have been wanting to go to but didn't have the chance to do so. It was kinda like one of those birthday wishes or bucket lists I need to tick off before I turn older (yikes). And also because of the promise I made for myself. It could be petty for someone's perspective, but nah - I think otherwise.
Sirao Flower Garden is situated in the mountainous part of Cebu. Travelling there could get you weary, but if that's fine with you and you seek adventure then it's a win-win.
Arriving at the location, you'll see vendors across the main gate. So when you get hungry from all the travel you can just grab anything you like. No need to worry about your tummy going cray-cray! Believe me it's the worst thing that could ever happen.
For just around $2, you can get a whole day pass. Before it was mainstreamed, it used to be a cent worth visit. To be honest, environmental fees or entrance fees whatever you wanna call it, for me it's just fair- specially when you're paying for the place to be preserved I guess. After all, it takes a village to build an empire. Well in this case, - a garden.
So is Sirao Flower Garden worth listing to your itinerary? I'm not saying this because I'm a #Cebuana but actually it is. A serene look and a breather away from the city, it is actually pretty fun. The wind brushing through your hair, the sound of it, the fresh air, the greens - of course the greens! You cannot left that out - that's what makes it therapeutic to the eyes and mind.
But when you are not lucky enough, you are stuck with this scenery. This is what makes it somewhat dissapointing.
To be honest, the garden wasn't how I pictured it in my head. One - point taken that the flowers or crops are seasonal. But when I went there, aside from how the area was too sparse, there are ongoing constructions too. Though it's a good thing because that only shows how booming tourism is for Sirao Flower Garden and just adored by many.
But if you plan on taking #OOTDs or just normal photo-taking-sitch as much as you can, you can't have that much freedom. And that's a con. Why is that? Again, the area is pretty much... empty - which means to say that other tourists gets clustered into one place. That's code for Photobombers. Two - peak season. It means it gets crowded a LOT but on the other note they get the most crops than any other time of the year.
But like I said, peak season is called like that for a reason.
MORE FLOWERS = MORE TOURISTS = MORE CROWDED
So if making memories is your purpose in going there, I suggest you go - when you are comfortable with it. You know what I mean? It really all boils down to what your travel preference is. You gotta choose the right time in going there because that way you don't get stressed out about everything else and appreciate more it's beauty in a whole picture.
Overall, I would rate it as an okay experience. But I would love to go back though when it's full bloom. Anyhow now, I am finally ticking off Sirao Flower Garden to my bucket list of 2019. And BRB because I am going to make new sets of lists for the next year.
